November 4 & 5, 2006

Recently John said something that caught my attention. This is good, in that he has been preaching! But the particular comment was not in a sermon. He just said, “There is power in vision, but there is real power in shared vision!” Amen. He’s a pretty sharp guy.

At our business meeting, I communicated a thing or three about what you can do in order to join me in achieving the milestone of 1,000 people in the worship center for weekend services by the end of 2007. If we can all work together, sharing the vision, then we can also all share the joy of God working in and through us.

The three things? You’ve already memorized them! We all share the mission of reaching, connecting and growing!

Reaching: Consider inviting a friend to a Dayspring event or service. It is amazing to realize that people are actually waiting to be noticed, to make friends, and to be invited to something. If someone says no at first, that’s okay. Your invitation shows that you care about them. And they may say yes!

Connecting: When you do bring or even just meet someone new at church, connect them to others. Make introductions. Get new folks into groups and classes. Encourage them to be more than spectators. Help people become participants.

Growing: As we all grow spiritually, we will represent Jesus more accurately and attractively. I think people want to see what real Christianity looks like and we can show them. Let’s all follow Jesus so closely that we lead others to follow as well.

How will we fulfill our purpose to glorify God? By concentrating on the Great Commission as our central objective. We can all work shoulder to shoulder to reach the milestone of drawing more people to Dayspring, and ultimately to Christ! This is a vision to share.
