In last week’s installment of my Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I wrote about a key strategy: closing the back door. Of course, when I refer to the back door of Dayspring, I’m thinking about how people come in and like what they see, stay around for a season, then move on because they can’t get plugged in. We need to grow in our ability to follow-up on people and help them get involved. This week I’d like to suggest that you adopt a simple personal strategy to help our whole church to earn a reputation for being friendly and accepting. Here it is: treat others like you would want to be treated. That should sound familiar. It is called the Golden Rule. Jesus taught this simple idea. Let’s each think about what kind of experience we would want at a new church. Would you want to meet people? Wouldn’t it be nice if people learned your name? What else would need to happen in order for you to feel at home? Now, let’s all reach out and help others to be assimilated into the body at Dayspring. I need you!
