January 06-07, 2007
In last week’s installment of my Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I concentrated on the importance of understanding the relative roles of pastors and people in general. The Bible teaches in Eph. 4:11-12 that the responsibility to do the work of ministry rests on the shoulders of all believers. The pastors are to equip every member to serve.
I never tire of considering the implications of Christ’s command to make disciples by “teaching them to obey all things [He] has commanded (Matt. 28:20).” I want all our Dayspring attenders to have no question in their minds about how to lead someone to the Lord. We can all play in part in honoring God by populating heaven!
As I’ve been thinking so much about how to lead someone to follow Jesus, the single thing that keeps coming into my mind is the importance of the person doing the leading to also closely follow! We can’t lead anyone where we have never been. Join me in following Jesus Christ in a way that draws others to come along! Let’s make 2007 the year that each one reaches one!
