March 10 & 11, 2007
MAPS stands for Messages About Purpose and Strategy. The Purpose of any organization explains why it exists. We exist to glorify God. Strategies are the answers to how we fulfill our overarching purpose.
This week I want to communicate about the importance of putting our best foot forward in greeting and serving those who are taking a look at our church and our Lord. Several of our key leaders are mobilized to provide direction and motivation for our First Impressions ministry. I know that the cheerful and dedicated team of individuals already involved in this important ministry could use some more people to get involved. If you are interested in being part of the team that makes the first impressions here at Dayspring, then I invite you to attend our DVD leadership meeting here on Sunday, March 18th at 6:00 p.m. We will be providing some training and encouragement for those who feel the call to reach out and touch people who walk in our doors.
I also want to communicate about a special opportunity to reach out even farther than our own front doors. I’ve written before about our plans to get very involved in the Keizer Iris Festival. We will be the major player in this annual series of community events. You’ll be hearing a lot more about this, but for now I just want to communicate that our involvement can be seen as taking our First Impressions ministry outside of the walls of our church. We want to be proactive. We desire to reach out with the accepting, practical, attractive love of God and draw people into our fellowship and ultimately to the Lord himself.
Yours, Larry
