AUGUST 11 & 12, 2007

These Messages About Purpose and Strategy are just one way in which we can stay on the same page when it comes to what we do around here and how we do it. Our vision for the church ties into our current series on prayer. What we do it all for God and how we do it requires God's power. And how is that power tapped? By expressing our dependence on God in prayer. We need to ask him to do his will here at Dayspring. And then we need to be part of his answer!

How we view answers to prayer is actually pretty funny. We want what we want, and sometimes we even get ticked at God for ruining things when we should praise Him for answering. I heard a story about a shipwreck survivor who had very little on his deserted island but managed to build a small shelter. There he stored all his possessions he had saved from his sinking ship. He prayed for deliverance and watched the horizon every day to hail any passing ship. One day he was horrified to find his hut engulfed in flames. All he had was gone. It seemed like the worst thing that could happen. The next day a ship arrived. "We saw your smoke signal," they said. We need to understand what God said through Isaiah the prophet, "My ways are not like our ways."
