In today's installment of these Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I'm going to let Pastor John work you over about the importance of attending the training opportunities for Salem RiverFest at Dayspring. Here's John's take on this great opportunity:
Several weeks ago, I volunteered to attend a meeting with the leadership of Salem RiverFest. The purpose of the meeting was to explain the counselor training that is a critical part of the RiverFest evangelistic effort.
After attending that meeting I'm more convinced than ever, RiverFest represents a powerful opportunity for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, something bigger than any local church ministry could accomplish alone. RiverFest leaders expect between 35,000 to 50,000 will attend this 2-day event
September 22-23 at Riverfront Park on the Willamette River downtown! As well, event organizers anticipate between 2,000 to 3,000 commitments to Christ in response to the bold proclamation of the Gospel message.
RiverFest Counselor are being trained to use a Festival Response Card with those who respond to the message. Counselors need a heart for God, good listening skills, and a willingness to use the materials provided by the Festival leadership.
