OCTOBER 20 & 21, 2007

In today's installment of these Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I'll recap a little bit about our pastors' retreat. We got together to pray and discuss what God has in store for Dayspring and what we need to do in order to implement our vision. After making sure we were all on the same page when it comes to the biblical imperatives of the Great Commission and the Great Commandment, we spent some time dreaming about what Dayspring can look like in five years. We made quite a list and we are systematizing what we shared. Chris was able to collect our thoughts under a few main headings. We will come back to this document time and time again as we engage in the
long-term project of developing a specific strategic plan.

After a break, we began to discuss what this grand five-year vision would mean for us this year. We made a much shorter list of what we believe we must do here during 2008, given our strengths, weaknesses, and the unique opportunities related to our demographics and environment.

Among our many other accomplishments, we compared the wording of a few revamped vision statements, laid out the calendar of activities and services for 2008 and laughed while overeating.
