JANUARY 12 & 13, 2008

In this week's installment of my Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I want to tell you about the prayer meeting we had last Sunday evening. It was Jason Greene's idea. He decided to get people together representing all the different facets of our prayer ministry. Many are part of the e-prayer group. Others handle the phone prayer requests. Still more people are serving by being available after the services as celebration prayer team members. It was great hearing about each aspect of our growing prayer ministry. We sang and prayed together as well.

Now, what does this recap have to do with my messages about purpose and strategy? The meeting reminded us that we exist for God. All we do is for his glory. Prayer tends to clarify our purpose in life. And the meeting also pointed us toward the source of strength we need to tap in order to fulfill our purpose, that is, prayer! Prayer is strategic. It is the primary means of getting ministry done!

Here's a verse we should all memorize: "'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty" (Zech. 4:6).
