MARCH 15 & 16, 2008
Many of our attendees don't live in Keizer. Our proximity to I-5 and the quality of our programs allow us to function as a regional church. At the same time, Dayspring is located here in Keizer and it makes sense to do as much as we can to bloom where we are planted while still reaching out farther.
Last year we mobilized to serve the community as the title sponsor of the Keizer Iris Festival. Hundreds of Dayspring people served and the town responded well. It is a beautiful thing to see Christianity in action.
This year we are going to step it up yet another notch! A group is working on the timetable and organization of our many efforts. Pray for the Skippers as they lead and coordinate and begin praying about how you can be involved.
Our participation in the Festival will mean that we are able to make a serious statement about our desire to connect with our community. In case you are wondering, we will not be connected with what used to be called the beer garden (now called the entertainment tent). Last year we didn't serve Baptist Brew, Pastor's Porter, Salvation Suds, or Larry Lager and the entertainment tent has a different sponsor again this year that better fits that venue. We're into something different: serving the community for the sake of Christ!
Let's praise God as we continue to serve him in creative ways.
