Iris festival weekend is finally here!
More than 300 of us will be very visible in town, serving in a variety of ways. I'm writing this just after returning from the kick-off luncheon for all the sponsors. As I sat there, four thoughts came to my mind.
1. I had an appropriate feeling of pride in the great team that has assembled to follow Christ's example of willing service.
2. I was flooded with thanksgiving for the giver and the gift that made it possible for us to participate at this level.
3. I thought of how our motivation to serve ties into the theme of this year's festival: Acts Of Kindness. We serve because we follow the One who came to serve and accomplished the ultimate act of kindness - Jesus sacrificed himself for us!
4. And I thought of how our ministry in the community fits so well with our 25-word vision statement: To glorify God by reaching out in love to more people, connecting them into authentic relationships and growing up in maturity as followers of Christ!
