July 5 & 6

In this week's installment of Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I want to share something we did in a recent meeting. Some of our staff joined with the elders at 6:00 am to learn about team building. Chris's consultant friend led us through the results of our personality tests and we laughed and learned together. The guy shared a simple lesson about what a team needs. He used the acrostic, T.E.A.M. (not too inventive, but valuable). The E stood out in my thinking. It stood for: "Established purpose, values, and goals." Every team needs to know why they exist. I write about this often. But for the vision to be implemented, the purpose and strategies must be repeated, recited, and realized through passionate, persistent effort! I think I'm quoting now from notes that Tim Burke sent me: "Every team must have a flight plan." I want each of you to think of your part in the implementation of our vision. Let's get it off the ground! It is the vision of Dayspring to glorify God by reaching out in love to more people, connecting them into authentic relationships, and growing up in maturity as followers of Christ. You have a part to play!
