July 19 & 20

In the opening chapters of the Book of Revelation at the back of the Bible, we read seven short letters to individual churches. Jesus' words to these people give us insight into what our Lord values and expects of us. So in this week's installment of Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I want to direct your attention to Rev. 2:1-7 where we read a message originally intended for Ephesus, a large city church.  They had served faithfully, persevered through difficulty, and had upheld sound doctrine, but they had forsaken their first love - God himself! They were more in love with their ministry than they were in love with the Lord. Jesus called them, in no uncertain terms, to repentance. Every church can learn from this example. For Dayspring to fulfill our purpose of glorifying God, we must place our love for God over all other things and operate according to that Christ- centric mindset. As Jesus concludes, "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
