September 20 & 21
Don't worry, you are not reading a rerun of last week's MAPS, this is a new installment of my Messages About Purpose and Strategy. But you will notice a similarity with what I wrote last week about listening to the Book of Revelation on my iPod while riding my bike (and avoiding flying big gulps). That adventure worked so well that I wanted to repeat the feat. But this time I managed to carve out enough time to go on a longer ride and listen to Ezekiel! What an experience!
As I rode the loop through Silver Falls Park (wow - what a beautiful resource - I love Oregon!), I was fully engaged in the prophetic epic, learning yet more about God's majesty.
A theme jumped out at me about our responsibility here at Dayspring. I heard God speak on our obligation to warn people about what will happen in the future. Hellfire and brimstone preaching is very unpopular these days. But our responsibility to sound an alarm about God's judgment still remains.
You can read an example of what God has to say to his people about their responsibility as early as chapter 2 in Ezekiel. If you want to see what this book has to say to us about our purpose, be sure to also read chapter 33 on Ezekiel's role as a watchman on the wall. Certainly part of what God has called us to do is to let people know what God requires of them and to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord!
