Last week we completed our Soul Food series, but let's not leave those lessons behind. In today's Message About Purpose and Strategy, I want to encourage you to get into the Word of God. Dive in. Explore the depths. Don't settle for skimming along on the surface.

When I last went snorkeling with my boy Wyatt, I didn't know if he would remember how to use the equipment and dive down to where he could really explore the depths. It was fun to see him catch on right away and imitate a fish. He even tried to encourage his mom, "Don't be satisfied with the surface. Go for it!" That's the advice I give people concerning Bible study.

Our next series will take us into some uncharted depths, the book of Job. Let's give our attention to the Scriptures together that we may grow up in maturity as followers of Christ. "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope" (Rom 15:4).
