I was chewing on the deep first verse of Romans 12 and want to share some thoughts to stimulate your commitment in this installment of my Messages About Purpose and Strategy.
"I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship" (Rom 12:1).
I'm convinced that God doesn't so much invite us to bring an offering to the alter, but to lay ourselves there. You know, it makes sense that people are afraid of losing their lives, but what doesn't make sense is that so few people appear concerned about wasting their lives. That's a real danger that few take seriously, a legitimate fear.
Because life is so uncertain, we must invest it in things that matter. I don't want to spend whatever time I have remaining in trivial pursuits. So, what are you living for? Let's live for Jesus Christ alone!
We are not to ask, "What can Christ do for me?" But, "What can I do for Christ?" Be prepared for the answer. He wants your whole life.
