October 9 & 10, 2010

I've been thinking and praying about how we can glorify God. We want to fulfill our calling and honor our Creator. That's why I write these Messages About Purpose and Strategy. I've also been talking about the simplicity of the theme: Love Works. When we show people our love for them, they get a picture of God's love for them. I was recently in a group and we were discussing how most people are pretty insecure. For many, visiting a church is a very socially threatening experience. Think of what a person feels when they walk in our lobby. Your friends and co-workers want to know if they are accepted. They need to know if anyone cares about them. They want to know if anyone else is like them. When someone is uncertain about how they fit in, they have their guard up and they are unlikely to be able to receive the good news of Christ. But when we demonstrate love, we can create a context for spiritual discovery and transformation. Your smile, handshake, eye contact, and listening skills can make the difference in someone's life. Reach out in love this week. Love is disarming. Love works!
