December 18 & 19, 2010
We are on a mission. We live with an overarching motivation influencing our every act and attitude. We are constrained by a commission that provides us with a purpose higher and grander that any other possible goal in life. God has entrusted every Christian with the responsibility of leading other people to follow Christ (Matt. 20:18-20; 2 Cor. 5:18-20). In this installment of my weekly Messages About Purpose and Strategy, I'll encourage you to do something simple that may have huge consequences. One easy way to help friends and family move Christward in their lives is to expose them to Christian music and biblical teaching. Inviting others to church can be a step toward inviting them to come to Christ. You can use our Christmas Eve services as a nonthreatening opportunity to share the joy of Jesus Christ with friends and family members. On Christmas Eve we will be offering three services. They will be family-friendly times of worship, catering to the shorter attention spans of children. We will have the nursery open at our 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. services, but not at the 11:00 p.m. service. I'll be speaking at all three and I look forward to seeing you and meeting your friends. Who knows what God might do in the heart of your loved ones as they get a little taste of the love of God, shown so perfectly in the Christmas gift of Christ.
