The column to the right on this page is the place we promote the weekend messages. Week after week you can learn to expect. We intend to whet your appetite and prepare you in advance to get the most out of the weekend services. In this column I write a little something each week about why we exist and what we're doing to fulfill our function. These are my Messages About Purpose and Strategy. In this installment, I want to combine the two intentions and communicate how our Christmas Eve services contribute to what we are trying to accomplish here. Several answers come to mind. Whenever we gather to worship, we honor God with our praise. We've incorporated lots of singing in our Christmas Eve Services, scheduled at 5:00, 7:00, and 11:00 pm. The Christmas carols aren't just warm traditional ways to bring back fond feelings, they are songs that proclaim God's grace. We will glorify God with our voices. We can also honor God by warmly greeting others who will be gathering for worship. We can practice what God's Word says about encouraging each other. Some who are lonely will be here and they will come in need of your smile and blessing. Another way we honor God with our Christmas Eve services is that we proclaim what God did for us. Our focus will be upon Jesus. We will read from God's Word and talk about God's incredible gift. The services will be fairly short and family friendly. These are great opportunities to expose your friends and family to the content of your Christian faith. I am confident that these services will align perfectly with our commitment to glorify God by leading people to follow him.
